Ok, so I'm trying out this blog thing because it seems to be a big thing.

I think im just going to use this to hold all the useless facts i know or read about everday.

The first one and one that i do find interesting is the about the term candlepower.

The term is an obsolete form of measuring light intensity, similar but not comparable to watts. This measurement was used during the early time of electricity, when they would compare the light intensity to how many candles it would take to shine the same light.

Although this was the standard it is not used today, however the only comparable measure is candela. The only explanation for the change is that it measures the light in comparison to the "common candle". Hence why it is impossible to convert between candela and the more common watts.

The conversion is as follows:
1 candlepower = 0.981 candela

Candela is still used today, one form of light are the ones used to illuminate the Niagara Falls.

Check out the history of the illumination of the falls.

btw check out this pretty cool website for info on niagara falls.

Thats it for this time.
