Jerry Rice and Emmitt Smith were first time entries for the Pro Football Hall of fame. Both of these players were outstanding during the 1990's, each winning three Super Bowl Trophies and one Super Bowl MVP Honours with their respective teams (49ers for Rice, Cowboys for Smith). In 1993, Smith was also the League MVP.

The ceremony will take place on August 7th in Canton, Ohio.
